Ellen Garcia recently joined DGIM as Program Manager for the EatSF voucher program.
Ellen Garcia believes access to whole foods, and basic skills to prepare them, are key to every person’s health and self-determination. She brings to EatSF a passionate commitment to advancing food justice in San Francisco, where she led the SF-Marin Food Bank’s massive food pantry response to the COVID-19 pandemic; she also has 25 years’ experience in project management, particularly in culinary and nutrition education, having written and overseen content production for countless curricula on behalf of clients including the Edible Schoolyard, Leah’s Pantry, EatFresh.org, Scholastic, Chronicle Books, The French Culinary Institute NY, and more. She holds a BA with honors from Barnard College, an MFA in nonfiction writing from Emerson College, and extensive professional experience as a culinary instructor.
