Melissa Akers, MPH, CPH
Melissa Akers is the Associate Director of the EatSF program. She brings to her current position ten years of experience in public health and program management in the nonprofit sector. Her previous work includes coordinating health services for homeless youth and implementing large-scale, evidence-based HIV/STI and substance abuse prevention programs in school-based health centers nationwide. Melissa is passionate about healthy equity, social justice and leading programs that aim to reduce the barriers faced by vulnerable populations in accessing the resources they need to lead healthy lives. Melissa has a BA in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara and earned her master’s degree in Public Health from UC Davis. She is also Certified in Public Health (CPH).
